Our Weekly Generosity Ritual

The Half-Plate Committee solicits nominations from members of the Fellowship for non-profit organizations which operate in synergy with the principles and values of Unitarian Universalism to receive half the collection plate.  The other half of the collection is retained by the Fellowship to go towards our operating budget.   Nominated organizations may be local, state, national, or international in scope.  The Half-Plate Committee then researches and approves the nominations, if they fit the guidelines for acceptance, and makes them available to the Worship Services Committee, which matches approved non-profit organizations with the monthly and service theme for each service.  The Half-Plate Committee also acts as a liaison with the chosen non-profits to coordinate the presence of a representative of the non-profit at services and to speak about the non-profit with attendees at UnityPlazabetween services.  Below are the collections for the last year.  In some cases the collections were full plate collections, in which case the entire plate went to the non-profit, instead of the regular practice of half the plate being donated. For more information on any of these organizations simply use Google and enter their names as they appear here.
